Customer Reviews for: El Principe de la Niebla

Rating 3 out of 5 - Carlos Ruiz Zafon-el principe de la niebla
I enjoyed the book, although I think it is directed to younger readers. Anyways, it was very well written and have suspense.

Rating 4 out of 5 - Muy bueno

Rating 3 out of 5 - A fun read
"Zafon Characterizes this book, along with El Palacio de la Noche, Las Luces de Septiembre, and Marina--as children books.

They should be read in that context. El Principe de la Niebla is his first book and definitively it shows.

Set in The Spanish Civil War, The Carver family moves to a coastal town to escape the ravages of the war. But as soon as they enter their new house that belonged to Dr. Fleischmann and his family; strange things begin to occur. the house still holds the spirit of young Jacob, the Doctor's son, who drowned under strange circumstances as a child.

Max and Alicia Carver, after befriending a native boy their age, Roland--are faced with the task to discover the mysterious death and the existence of "El Principe de la Niebla"--a diabolical character that has returned from hell to collect on a debt from twenty-five years ago.

the three young children will get involved in an adventure of sunken ships, enchanted statues, and Roland's true identity.

Not as good as La sombra del viento or el Juego del Angel, but still makes for a great read. "

Rating 5 out of 5 - A great read
Like a number of other reviewers I read El Principe de la Niebla after La Sombra del Viento, but I for one wasn't disappointed. Yes it is a book for teenagers, but don't let that put you off as it is in fact beautifully written and in no way patronises its readers. I especially admire Zafón's linguistic craftmanship and in particular the humorous exchanges between the characters, which provide light relief from a story that is pretty scary and not to be read alone after dark.
