I think one of my favorite parts of the book was the advice to skim through the whole book before breaking it down and reading it chapter by chapter.
This shows the attention to detail the writers went though the imprint the various element of the concepts of building.

Rating 5 out of 5 - My wife loves it - and that's good enough for me.
I bought this (and Patterns...) because my wife always liked discussing the structure of our city, our house and life in general, as we headed home after work.

Snap - it describes exactly what she was trying to explain, and she just loves it.

If you have an interest - professional or not - in how that part of the world we 'create' is based on our preferences, desires and interests - then this is the book for you. No wonder it's a classic.




Rating 5 out of 5 - Very Intersting and Original Viewpoint
Alexander's book is fascinating. It teaches the reader to draw the distinction between pattern design and modular design. Previously, I was not even aware that these two design methods were on a type of continuum. Aside from its lessons, it is in fact a very interesting book. It does have a kind of utopian feel to it, and it feels good! I highly recommend this book to anyone.
