Customer Reviews for: Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software (Addison-Wesley Professional Computing Series)

Rating 5 out of 5 - Classic and the best pattern book
With no doubt it's the perfect pattern books which influenced most technical design in the world. Applicable to all software design using it's 23 patterns. Perfect technical analysis reference.

Rating 5 out of 5 - Software Engineer MUST HAVE
Excellent book, covers many design patterns and is a constant reference for popular patterns.

Rating 5 out of 5 - Excellent
Excellent book. Well organized, no void bla-bla-bla, just information. For the first time I've heard about this book long ago, but I've really read it when I already had 9 years of C++ experience. Still, this book appeard to be very useful and helpful for me.

I would recomend it to anyone who wants to improve his skills in designing and developing of expandable and reliable applications. Must-have book for any software developer.

Rating 5 out of 5 - one of the best
If you know object oriented programming, this book will show you how to design better programs. I like it because it has real life examples. It also has the source codes illustrating how to implement each design patterns. The book is well organized and clearly written. The best book I have right now on design pattern. Now I remember back in the school day; it's quite sad that some professors cannot even teach this topic right. They define and show you design patterns, but they fail miserably to show you the how and the why. How to implement each pattern and why use it and in what situation would each pattern be used. That's what school is all about! You paid to learn which will save you time learning it yourself. All they have to do is teach something that someone has already figured out or done all the work for them, and they cannot even do it right. Quite sad for the students!

Rating 5 out of 5 - John Vlissides passed away on Nov 24. 2005
A sad note on a tremendous talent who helped change the world of software engineering for the better. John Vlissides passed away on Nov 24. 2005 after a long battle with cancer.

Design Patterns is one of the few software design methodologies that I've found useful over the years. Thanks John you will be missed.
