Rating - A Real Feast
This book is everything I hoped for, a beautiful, simple, feast for the eye and the mind. The delight the author takes in explaining the "why" of things was paired with her obvious love of the process. A delightful book!
Rating - My "Go To" baking book
I haven't yet tried every single cheesecake here yet, oh but I will! One of her signatures is the thick crust on the bottom of the cake. They simply look delicious.
My daughter is a novice baker and recently had a very successful experience with the Baking-Class Cranberry Cream Scones, for which she received Kudos. I "FINALLY" found the perfect banana bread recipe; the secret? Too many bananas in the recipe makes the bread rubbery. Huh? Why has no one ever told me that before?
Rating - A Masterpiece Penned By A Unique Genius, Writer & Artist
Marcy Goldman has authored a brilliant book that offers...far more than any other cookbook I have ever read. Yes, it is all there for anyone to create masterful delights that you will not find, frankly, anywhere else. But this most precious book is so much more. You get the spirited, artistic, witty, plucky, kick-off-your-shoes-and-dance sparkle of the author herself. Indeed, not only did I love the passion, and I mean real passion, with which she writes (I would love to read a book authored by her in any genre - fiction, poetry, memoir - she is that delightfully entertaining and truly gifted). But she delivers the essence of what everyone I know wants - BLISS! The great author Katherine Mansfield described it so perfectly...and Marcy Goldman steps up to the mighty task in this genre by magically conveying the quintessential transformation that takes place deep within - when one experiences the most perfectly satisfying meridian of joy in being alive from head-tummy-to-your-very-toes. A must have gift this season for yourself, and anyone for whom you feel passionately...if not blessed by bliss.
Rating - Brittany Butter Cookies Page 124- One Star for this Recipe
They may have corrected this recipe for subsequent editions but let me tell you about the recipe in the first edition. Let's see what's wrong with this recipe.
Recipe says "roll dough to 3/4 inch thickness". Picture indicates a much thinner cookie roll-out. I'll bet they're supposed to be 1/4 inch.
Headnote says " makes 2 to 3 dozen cookies". You might get 2 dozen out of this recipe if you make the cookies a little thinner.
