$10,000 Gold Certificates and Federal Reserve Notes are the second highest denomination of US paper money ever produced, and were primarily used for official transfers between banks. Few were ever put into circulation. All $10,000 bills are scarce to extremely rare. Of the specimen examples, only one $10,000 1934 Gold Certificate specimen note is known and only one $10,000 1934 Dallas District Federal Reserve Note is known. Both specimen notes are privately owned. The 1900 $10,000 Gold Certificate is the most common and most obtainable. The 1900 Dollar Notes however, when redeemed, were punch-cancelled and have no value, other than historical and collector value. The face of Salmon P. Chase, the sixth chief justice of the United States, is featured on the last two series years of these notes.
